Born in Santa Monica, California, in 1945, Richard Eyer was the kid with the clean-cut, all-American look who won a number of "personality contests" and other competitions before he made his film debut in the early 1950s. Mainstream audiences may remember Eyer best as the youngster who runs "afowl" of the nipping goose in director William Wyler 's Lockende Versuchung (1956), while sci-fi fans will recall that he had star billing and the title role in SOS Raumschiff (1957), producer Nicholas Nayfack 's independently-made follow-up to MGM's popular Alarm im Weltall (1956). Brother of Robert Eyer After leaving the entertainment industry, he became a teacher and taught elementary school children in Bishop, California. Later owned a firm that constructed tennis courts. Left the business around the age of 16 after his agent, Milton Rossner, died. His last work was on an episode of "Combat" in which he played a dying soldier. First TV acting occurred on cowboy star Roy Rogers ' TV show. Following several competitions and personality contests as a child, he moved into child modeling and at one point appeared with Esther Williams in ads for Cole of California swimming suits. Has a daughter and twin sons. He teaches third grade in Bishop, California, USA.
